Iowa and Kansas

In late spring of 2003, family affairs drew me back to the Midwest, where I had lived for many years and where most of my family and many of my in-laws still reside.

I had forgotten how different the Midwest was from other places I've lived. Time moves along at a different pace. The land, towns, traditions, lives -- all seem static.
